Last week, BAC presented a three-day special exhibition Wu Guanzhong and Hong Kong as a tribute to mark the tenth anniversary of master Wu Guanzhong's death. Twenty special editioned prints, old photos of Wu Guanzhong's time in Hong Kong, and unseen masterpieces were exhibited at Pottinger 22, an art space in Central, Hong Kong.
Reminiscence of Jiangnan (1996) Wu Guanzhong (b.1919)
Hong Kong through the eyes of Wu Guanzhong: Brightly lit Victoria Harbour and high-rise skyscrapers; Wu interprets through shapes as simple as dots and lines. Connecting surfaces with the movements of his brushstrokes to express the busy and noisy crowds, from winding narrow alleys- which belongs to Wu Guanzhong and Hong Kong.
On 20th June, our guest speakers Mr. Fong Yuk Yan (Yan Gallery Founder), Mr. Felix Kwok (Sotheby's APAC Director), Ms. Tinny Cheng (The Culturist Founder) were invited to have fireside chats about Wu Guanzhong's masterpiece collections and his special emotional connection to Hong Kong.
