nine Dragons & Veni, Vidi, Vici 2025 | Ren Zhe
Kai Tak Sports Park, Hong Kong
Each piece tells a distinct story, thoughtfully woven into Kai Tak’s rich history, and people and events that shape the Park. This offers local residents and visitors an inspiring journey where art, culture, and history intertwine.
NINE DRAGONS
Interweaves the Chinese cultural symbol with contemporary art. It embodies the ancient belief that “Heaven exists in a circular form whereas the Earth exists as a square”. The vibrant, intricately carved dragons soar within a circular perimeter representing roundness, while a square-shaped screen displays the Chinese characters for “Kai Tak”. The installation represents a fusion across time and space, as well as movement and stillness. The nine dragons radiate the indomitable spirit of diligence and adaptability of the Chinese nation, while also celebrating the contributions of Hong Kong as one of the dragon's sons.

VENI, VIDI, VICI
Within the historical context of KTSP, the artist imbues “Veni, Vidi, Vici” with layered significance. The winged horse not only reflects the legacy of Kai Tak as an aviation hub but also symbolises its role in propelling Hong Kong onto the global stage. The warrior's dynamic posture and the imposing presence of the sculpture embodies athletes' relentless pursuit of greatness, as well as Hong Kong's commitment to progress.
